A dedication ceremony was held this past weekend at the Knoxville Kiwanis Miracle Playground as a tree was planted there in honor of Michael Gene Philben.

Michael, formerly of Knoxville, passed away at his home in Grimes on September 9th at the age of 60. Michael’s mother, Pat Philben Allessanda, said their family wanted to plant a tree with memorial money they received and approached the Knoxville Morning Kiwanis Club about placing it at the park.

Ernie Smith of the Kiwanis Club says they’d like to plant at least two more memorial trees at the park.
