Historic Pella Trust has been working to establish a historic district in Pella.

The proposed collegiate historic district would be made up of the area north of Central College, between Independence and Union, and West 1st and Main Streets. The Trust has been working with the city over several months to work on zoning changes to the area and an Ad Hoc committee has been working to put together a future ordinance. In order for that ordinance to be considered, more than 60% of residents living in the area must approve of the changes in a survey.
