A Jasper County man is in custody after several police agencies assisted Jasper County authorities in a chase and stand-off on Wednesday.
After 7:15, a Jasper County Deputy tried to stop a vehicle with expired registration, and after he tried to arrest 58 year old Russell Quick, Sr. of Kellogg during the stop, Quick fled. The pursuit lasted for roughly 10 minutes northeast of Monroe. Once Quick’s vehicle became stuck near a creek bed, he refused to exit the vehicle and surrender. At 8:15, after Quick tried to escape, police approached the vehicle and used a TASER to subdue and arrest Quick as he fought police. Quick is charged with OWI, 3rd offense and eluding, both Class D Felonies, and driving while barred, interference with official acts, possession of a controlled substance, and several traffic violations. The Iowa State Patrol, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe Police, and Prairie City Police assisted the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office with the arrest.
