Find out what it takes to be a member of the Iowa National Guard and learn about the equipment they use during an open house at the Iowa National Guard Armory in Knoxville today.
Following their Center of Influence event for Knoxville employers of national guard members, the armory will hold an open house to show people the different tools and equipment needed for the guard unit to accomplish their mission.
Readiness NCO Sgt First Class Chris Wilson of 36-54th Maintenance Company says it’s important to show how they’re part of the community. He says along with their federal mission, his company will also respond to state emergencies, such as floods, power outages, or other disasters. Sgt Wilson also hopes to encourage young men and women to become members of the Armed Forces.
The open house at the Knoxville Armory will be from 1pm to 4pm and the public is welcome to attend.
