Knoxville Fire and Rescue and the Knoxville Police Department responded to a call at the KFC/Taco Bell on South Lincoln after employees reported smoke coming from their vents.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30am. Smoke was seen coming from the door of the building and firefighters were investigating the heating and cooling units on the roof of the building.

Knoxville Fire Chief Jim Mitchell says employees noticed smoke coming from the vents and initially thought it was from the exhaust duct work. However, during their investigation, Mitchell says they believe the smoke originated from one of the building’s two H-VAC units.

Mitchell says damage was believed-to-be limited to some smoke damage. Any damage to the inside of the vents is unknown.

Officials with KFC/Taco Bell tell KNIA/KRLS that the facility is expected to reopen Saturday.
