Winter weather can be expected at any time and Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada wants people to know what rules apply when the city snow ordinance is in effect.

Losada says there will be no parking along city streets on either side of the road while it’s in effect. This is the only time that residents will be allowed to park on their lawn if they don’t have enough room in their driveway for all their vehicles.

Also, sidewalks must be shoveled within 24 hours after a snow storm ends. Those living in rental properties are responsible for the sidewalks in front of their homes.

Violators of these ordinances will be fined. Losada says the ordinances won’t be enacted unless there’s at least an inch of snow on the ground in Knoxville.
