The first day of the State Football Semifinals will culminate in a match-up between two powerhouse defenses as Pella High and Cedar Rapids Xavier meet tonight inside of the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. The Saints will be playing their second straight contest without leading rusher, Jay Kortemeyer, but Little Dutch head coach, Jay McKinstrey says Xavier is very deep. Points could be at a premium tonight; the Saints have given up on average just a hair under 11 points per game through 12 contests while Pella has allowed a touch over seven this season. Though his team has scored significantly more points than Xavier, McKinstrey says they’ll be tested by a very agile Saints’ squad. There will be no shortage of coverage tonight for Pella’s semifinal game. Everything kicks off at the UNI-Dome with the KNIA/KRLS Little Big Red Radio for another live edition of the Jeromy Dingeman Concrete Football Friday Night Radio Preview Show on KNIA and KRLS starting at 6:00 p.m. We’ll take you up to the Midtown Tire Team pre-game show at 7:50 with kick-off scheduled for 8:21 p.m. live on 92.1 KRLS.
