91% of the scoring for the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad will return for the 2014/2015 season. The Panthers were led last season by Meredith Cunningham’s 11.8 points per game, she was also the team leader in steals with 48. Also back this season is leading rebounder Ashley Hawkshead, and the leader in blocks Sierra Kendall, who swatted 18 shots of course. And as with all of the other sports at Knoxville, the Panthers will transition into the South Central Conference where Knoxville won three of five games against S-C-C teams last season. The Panthers already have been in action earlier this week at a Jamboree in Grinnell. Knoxville got off to a slow start trailing East Marshall 14-3, but ended the half of play on a 23-9 run to win the half of basketball 26-23. Cunningham led with 14 points. The Panthers get going for real against P-C-M this Friday in Monroe.
