Knoxville Coaches vs Cancer organizer Jim Uitermarkt continues to be amazed by the contributions the community gives year after year. And the Knoxville community has also amazed the American Cancer Society as well.
For the second time in a row, the Knoxville Coaches vs Cancer campaign has raised the highest total in the nation at just under $59,000 dollars for 2014.
Uitermarkt says it tells a lot about the community that Knoxville has beat the efforts of bigger cities, but for him and his wife Angie, it’s the gratitude of those they’ve met who’ve been affected by cancer in some way that makes all their effort worthwhile.
The 2015 Coaches vs Cancer campaign is underway with several events upcoming, including a silent auction. The total for this year’s campaign will be announced on January 24th between the Knoxville girls’ and boys’ basketball games against Chariton.
