A recent report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention says there’s been a mutation to one of the flu strains.
Marion County Public Health’s Judi VanHulzen says that although the mutated flu strain is not in Iowa, it’s a good reminder of what steps people can take to prevent from getting the flu. She says to wash your hands properly with soap and warm water, stay home if you’re sick, and be sure to get your flu shot.
VanHulzen says it can be anywhere from 24 to 48 hours before you start showing flu symptoms. We have a link to more flu prevention tips available by clicking here.
