The winter warm up much of the state is lined up for this weekend is not uncommon, according to meteorologists. Rod Donovan with the National Weather Service says this December warm up is a pattern the state runs into every few years. Donovan says that some records may be broken for the warmest overnight low temperatures, but record breaking day-time highs are not expected. He says afternoon highs the 50s will remain in place throughout much of south central Iowa through Sunday, with a slight cool down expected next week.
