Another academic award was handed out to the Central women’s soccer program yesterday. Co-captain, Liz Daniels, was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women’s College Division Scholar All-North/Central Region third team. To receive the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, be a starter in at least half of all games, and be a significant contributor to the team. Daniels, with a biochemistry major, currently has a 3.72 GPA. The senior defender was one of the reasons The Dutch set school records for shutouts with 12, most consecutive shutouts with four, fewest goals allowed at 12, and shots allowed with just under 12 per game. Central’s women concluded the season 11 – 4 – 4 and 5 – 1 – 1 in conference play.
