The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad beat Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 47-27 last night in a game that saw the Panthers outscore the Rockets 30-9 from the free throw line. The game heard on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA was close at the half with Knoxville leading 19-16, but Knoxville outscored the Rockets 27-11 in the second half. Coach Jim Uitermarkt was very happy with his team’s free throw shooting. Of their 27 second half points, the Panthers scored 23 from the line. Knoxville is now 7-0 on the season and have sole possession of first place in the South Central Conference with a 5-0 record. The boys pulled away in the second half of their game against the Rockets to win 68-41. The Panthers led at the half 37-31 but limited the Rockets to just ten points in the final 16 minutes of play. Trent Davis led the Panthers with 20 points. Knoxville is now 5-1 on the season and 4-1 in the conference. The Panthers play at P-C-M tonight.
