Farmland values across the state have seen a decline according to the latest Iowa Land Value Survey.

The average Iowa farmland value is now estimated to be just under $8000 per acre, which is a drop in value of about 8.9 percent from 2013. Marion County sits at $6984, which is a slight decline from 2013, when it was $7079. This year’s survey shows the second year since 1999 to have a decline in farmland values and the largest decline since 1986. The values are determined by a November survey conducted by the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development at Iowa State University.
