Area law enforcement is encouraging a safe trip back home after the holiday.

Lt. Paul Haase with the Pella Police Department says they typically see an uptick in car accidents and traffic violations during the holidays due to the large volume of cars traveling. He reminds drivers to wear a seat belt, obey the posted speed limit, and avoid driving distracted and while intoxicated to keep yourself and others safe on the roadways.
