Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada wants citizens to remember to assign a designated driver for their festivities this New Year’s Eve.

Losada says a designated driver is defined as someone who doesn’t drink any alcohol for the entire evening. Losada says if you’ve had too much to drink, call a cab, get a ride home from a sober friend, or make arrangements to stay where you are. He adds if you see someone intoxicated who’s trying to get into a car to drive, take away their keys to make sure they stay safe and others on the roadways are safer as well.
