This year’s deer harvest is projected to be similar to last year’s, according to the Iowa DNR.
Heading into the final week of Iowa’s 2014 deer hunting season, hunters are on pace to harvest roughly 100,000 deer, which would be similar to 2013. So far this year-to-date, 4,300 more deer have been reported than the same time period as last year, led by an 11 percent increase in the buck harvest. The doe harvest is down 1 percent, which the DNR says is a result of regulation changes. The late muzzleloader and archery seasons continue until Saturday, January 10th, which is the final opportunity to hunt deer this winter.
