This latest round of winter weather means citizens in Knoxville and Pella must follow city snow ordinances to ensure for safe and easy cleanup of city streets.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada has placed the city under a snow ordinance as of 7pm Monday evening. Losada says citizens need to remember all vehicles need to be off city streets when a snow ordinance is in effect, so plows can clean up the roads quickly and easily. If your family has so many vehicles that you’re force parked on the street, you are permitted to park those vehicles on your lawn until your street is completely plowed.
Pella has also been placed under a snow ordinance as of 6pm Monday. The Pella Police Department says vehicles left on any city street, alley, or public parking lot may be issued a ticket or towed if not moved after an ordinance has been established and publicized.
Property owners are required to remove snow and ice from public sidewalks within 24 hours after snow has stopped falling on their property.
A snow ordinance is also in effect for Pleasantville.
