Area law enforcement and emergency response units were kept busy by the first major snowstorm of the season.
In total, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to seven crashes causing property damage, assisted 11 motorists, and responded to one accident that caused an injury during and in the 24 hours following Monday’s snow event. At approximately 7:15 p.m., Pella Ambulance and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a rescue call for a man who fell and injured his knee near a creek, and the patient was transported to Pella Regional. Minutes later, another call was received about a jackknifed semi near Dutchman’s Landing on County Highway G-28 that left traffic at a standstill and caused delays exceeding an hour. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS news that their department responded to two weather-related accidents on Monday evening.
