Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart presented the city council with the results of the city assessment survey during a special session Thursday.
Stewart says the majority of citizens are satisfied with the city’s services, such as the police and fire departments, but they also see some trends where improvement is needed. He says this information will be helpful to not only allow the city to focus their efforts on improvements the community wants, but also determine how the city budget will unfold.
One of the bigger topics discussed as a result of the survey was a need for more city trails. Much of the council and staff believe it’s an important quality of life issue.
Some officials feel the city also needs to do a better job of getting their message out to the public.
Assistant City Manager Aaron Adams told the council that the issues brought up from the survey can be addressed over a matter of years and will help turn a great community into an even better community.
A copy of the survey data and the PowerPoint presentation presented to the council can be seen on the city website at www.knoxvilleia.gov.
