The Pella Police Department has released the dash cam video from a chase that started in town and ended with a Leighton man in custody.
The pursuit began after officers attempted to stop 40 year old Wayne Ellsworth just before noon on Monday, because they say the car he was driving was reported as stolen in Wapello County. The video shows police pursuing the vehicle that at times topped speeds of 100 miles per hour and was weaving through traffic as the chase crossed over into Mahaska County. Ellsworth faces charges of Eluding and 2nd Degree Theft in Mahaska County, both Class D Felonies, and dozens of misdemeanor traffic violations in Marion County. He’s currently at Mahaska County Jail on $5000 bond.
