Today marks the first ever National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
The FBI National Academy Associates and local and state police departments are encouraging the public to openly support officers. Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says the day was created in response to the recent protests of police across the country. He hopes the citizens of Marion County will take the time to recognize the work of area police departments throughout the day, because he says the lifestyle of officers is demanding. Sandholdt says to wear blue clothing, send a card to any police department, and share a positive experience they have had with an officer if you’d like to show your support.
