The 4th Annual Swimming for a Cure event will take place Saturday at the Knoxville Rec Center.

Organizer Jerry Ayers says he was deeply involved with the Knoxville Coaches vs Cancer events when his daughter was a member of the Knoxville basketball team and wanted to help out in a new way after she graduated.
Ayers says the event earns money for every lap swam by participants and each swimmer will try to swim or walk 36 laps, the equivalent of one mile. He expects 50 to 60 people to participate.
The Knoxville Swim Team will also contribute to the event. Last year, the lap swim rose over $9,000.
The event will be from 6am to 10am. Proceeds from Swimming for a Cure go towards the Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer event next week.
