Governor Terry Branstad has declared this week Hazardous Materials Awareness Week in Iowa.

Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson wants citizens to take safety precautions with hazardous materials in their homes. He says you should never mix household chemicals together, keep chemicals and medications out of the reach of children, and store all household products according to the instructions on the label.
Anderson adds anyone looking to get rid of hazardous materials should contact the South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency.
