This month is National Radon Action Month.
Dean Van Ryswyk with Van Ryswyk Plumbing and Heating in Monroe is a certified radon mitigator. Van Ryswyk says when mitigating radon, the idea is to seal the basement floor so nothing comes up through cracks, and then to install a fan system with piping to push air through or around the building outside without leaks. He says it’s a relief to customers when he assists with high Radon levels. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is the second leading cause of lung cancer.
