A lot more important things than wins in the Little Hawkeye Conference are being played for tonight at Pella High, as the Dutch host Pella Christian for a twinbill basketball showdown. It’s the Coaches vs. Cancer night for both schools, and there are many activities planned. The American Cancer Society’s event is being held in conjunction with Beat Cancer Today. T-shirts are on sale for $5, and free-will donations will be taken throughout the night. Pella girls’ coach, Jerod Garland, says it’s a special game for both teams. The Lady Dutch can secure no worse than a share of the conference championship if they can knock off the Eagles. The Little Dutch are guaranteed the number one seed and probably a home game in the first round of the postseason, while the Eagle boys are locked into a two-seed and a first round bye in their bracket. Eagles Head Coach Larry Hessing says the Little Dutch present a lot of challenges, the way Pella Christian likes to operate. Tonight’s doubleheader can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS and KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser and Randy Sikkema on the play-by-play. The Midtown Tire Team Radio Pre-game show starts at 6:00 p.m.
