Cassandra Murra
Knoxville School Superintendent Cassi Murra has been an advocate from the beginning for the Iowa Legislature to pass a six percent increase in Supplemental State Aid to schools.

Murra says she’s disappointed that Governor Terry Branstad’s 1.25 percent increase in SSA was approved by the Iowa House. While she feels six percent would be good to get schools closer to the national average per student, another three to four percent increase to supplement inflation would at least maintain the status quo from previous years, instead of taking a step backwards with the governor’s proposal.
Murra says it’s frustrating when the funds they receive from the state are not enough to pay the district’s bills.
