A Pleasantville man was transported to Knoxville Hospital & Clinics after the utility van he was operating ended up in a pond along Highway T-15 near Knoxville.

It happened around 9:45am near Mid-American Energy when 32-year-old Steven Launsdale lost control of the Medicom van he was operating and the van rolled onto its side into the pond. A Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy said Launsdale was helped out of the van by citizens who were passing by the scene at the time of the accident. It’s not known what kind of injuries he sustained.
The curve where the accident occurred has been the subject of complaints for several years and Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says a project to put a guardrail in is now in the works. He says the Marion County Board of Supervisors recently approved the project and a contractor for it. It’s expected to be completed during the 2015 construction season.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Marion County Emergency Management, and Knoxville Police Department all assisted at the accident scene.
