A prolonged dry spell in January caused a short term drought in the area that was quickly eliminated after last weekend’s snowstorm.
According to the USDA Drought Monitor, much of the state was listed as “abnormally dry” last week for the first time since early June. Saturday’s rain and Sunday’s heavy snow made up the deficit, and the majority of the state has since returned to normal moisture conditions. Later this month, the National Weather Service will release the 2015 Spring flood outlook.
