Pleasantville firefighters battled near zero temperatures and minus 20 degree wind chills in the early morning hours Wednesday.
Shortly before 4:00 a.m., the Pleasantville Fire Department was called to a house fire at 1004 50th Place on the southeast side of Pleasantville. Assistant Fire Chief Mark Clifton tells KNIA/KRLS news that they had a quick response, and were able to keep the fire confined to the upper story. Clifton says that it was so cold that water in the pipes in the pumper truck froze. No one was injured in the fire, which likely began in the chimney. Marion County records show the deed to the home is held by James and Janet Boots.
