Questions remain as to what caused a man to crash through the Lazer Car Wash in Knoxville and strike several parked cars behind the U.S. Cellular store Wednesday afternoon.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says the driver of the vehicle, identified in a police report as 35-year-old Loren Church, was reportedly taken by Mercy One helicopter to a Des Moines hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to the accident report, Church was in the south parking lot at Walmart driving westbound, when he crossed a median, hitting a dumpster along the way. He then proceeded through a car wash bay that had both doors closed, striking the side of the bay and damaging the concrete wall. Church then drove across another grass median before striking several parked cars behind the U.S. Cellular building.
No one else was injured as a result of the accident.
