Education funding continues to be a hot topic in the Iowa Legislature.
District 14 State Senator Amy Sinclair is the ranking education committee member and was recently assigned to the conference committee in the Iowa Senate regarding state supplemental aid to schools.
Sinclair says the conference committee is currently at an impasse. She says it’s been a difficult process, considering it should have been completed last year and now schools have to finalize their budgets by March 15th with no idea as to how much state supplemental aid they’ll get.
Sinclair says the Iowa Senate is proposing a four percent increase to state supplemental aid while the House proposal would only see a 1.25 percent increase.
