District 28 State Representative Greg Heartsill was among the delegates that attended the signing of a proclamation by Governor Terry Branstad declaring March Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

Heartsill spoke recently about the importance of this proclamation. He says colon cancer is a preventable disease and it’s important that people get screened early and often.
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Iowa.
