The Knoxville Community School District, as well as school districts across the state, needs additional substitute teachers and is offering information on how to become one.

The Heartland Area Education Agency is an educational partner of Knoxville Schools and an approved provider of the substitute authorization program.
Due to the shortage of substitutes across the state, the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners has expanded who is eligible to substitute at elementary, middle/junior high and high school level.
The Heartland Area Education Agency also helps out area school districts, including Pella, Pella Christian, PCM, Melcher-Dallas, Twin Cedars, and Pleasantville.
