The Pella Christian Eagles are set to kick off their state tournament run later today when they take on the Western Christian Wolves. The 16-7 Eagles are slated as a seven seed, and are looking for their first win in Wells Fargo Arena since 2009, when they fell in the championship game to Solon. The defending Class 2A champions from Hull have won four titles since the 2007 season. Head Coach Larry Hessing is well aware of the success Western Christian has had as a program, but feels like the Little Hawkeye Conference competition this season has set his team up to handle adversity well. These two teams last played one another at state in 2008, with the eventual champion Wolves earning a 67-61 victory. Our coverage begins at 11:55 on 92.1 KRLS, with first tip set for 12:15 p.m. in Des Moines.
