Though the Pleasantville girls’ basketball team mustered just five wins this season, it was their most since the 2011-12 campaign, and they did it with a mix of underclassmen, and a maturing group of juniors with some senior leadership added into the gumbo. Kennedy Core was the Trojans’ workhorse, leading the team in scoring every season she donned the uniform. However, as opposed to other seasons, Core had a more active supporting cast with her in 2014-15. Freshman Kelsey Van Haalen put up nearly ten points per game before an injury ended her season down the stretch, Bailey Oliva and Samantha Thompson also helped on the boards and in the scoring column. Coach Aaron Fichter says after a slow start, the younger girls, and the team as a whole, figured out how effective they could be. The Trojans return seven juniors and three freshmen to the program next season.
