The Knoxville School Board has agreed to a pair of purchases that will upgrade the technology of the entire district.
First, the board agreed to purchase 950 Macbook Airs for students in Grades 6 through 12. Superintendent Cassi Murra says this now means all grade levels, K through 12, will have access to computers, which is important because all of the district’s testing is now being done online.
The board also approved the purchase of a learning management system that will allow students and teachers to have account access for communication, giving, receiving, and submitting assignments, and quicker updates for grades and lesson plans, among other features. Murra says staff will have training sessions over summer to become familiar with the new system.
