A Knoxville man is facing felony charges after being accused of attacking an elderly woman in her home and robbing her.

54-year-old Fred Allan Smith has been charged with First Degree Robbery and First Degree Burglary, both Class B Felonies, and Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse.
According to court documents, Smith entered the victim’s home stating he was a salesman for a medical alert company and asked about hers. When the victim told Smith to get out of her house, he pinned her to the floor and demanded money.
Knoxville Police arrested Smith after an officer recognized the crime was similar to ones he’d committed previously and the victim picked him out of a lineup.
Smith has entered a written plea of not guilty to the charges.
