Governor Terry Branstad signed a proclamation Thursday declaring March 23rd through the 29th as Dixie Cornell Gebhardt Week.

District 28 State Representative Greg Heartsill, along with members of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, attended the signing in Des Moines.
It will lead up to the celebration of Iowa Flag Day in Knoxville on Saturday, March 28th. Knoxville Chamber of Commerce President Annie Leonard says the celebration is an opportunity to showcase the city of Knoxville to the entire state.
During the celebration, there will be a flag raising ceremony outside the Dixie Gebhardt building, a history walk, where visitors can learn more about the local community from volunteer tour guides, and a celebrity pie auction.
Funds raised during the event will go to the Knoxville Public Library.
