A PCM student was among those honored Thursday by Governor Terry Branstad for her part in an essay contest honoring Women’s History Month.

Kassidi Long was awarded for her first place finish in the 6th and 7th Grade category of the Write Women Back into History Essay Contest.
The contest, sponsored by the Iowa Department of Human Rights’ Commission on the Status of Women, the Iowa Department of Education, and the State Historical Society of Iowa, encourages youth to gain a deeper and more relevant appreciation for women’s roles in history.
The governor presented Long with her award during a celebration at the State Historical Building in Des Moines.
