Overindulgence is always a worry during St. Patrick’s Day.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada understands this but wants citizens to play it safe. He says if a person is going out to drink, they shouldn’t drive. Citizens celebrating the holiday should choose a designated driver, utilize a cab service, or ask a friend to give them a ride.
Losada adds patrols will be on the lookout for drunk drivers and will take appropriate actions.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is also encouraging a safe holiday and will have extra patrols on the roads to keep motorists safe starting today and continuing through St. Patrick’s Day.
