Two men were injured in a head-on collision southwest of Monroe Wednesday night.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Ford Mustang driven by Cody Chambers, 21, of Hartford collided with a Buick LeSabre driven by Gary Johnston, 42, of Prairie City at approximately 9 p.m. The crash occurred at the crest of a hill on Carpenter Street near Calhoun Creek. The two were transported to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Monroe Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
