Dawson, Earl Dean
The Iowa Court of Appeals upheld the conviction of a man found guilty in Marion County on two counts of failing to comply with the sex offender registry.

59-year-old Earl Dean Dawson Jr was originally convicted of Third Degree Sexual Abuse in February 2006. According to court documents, Dawson was found to be in violation of his probation because he failed to register his email address and Facebook account name in a timely manner.
In his appeal, Dawson claimed he didn’t know such items needed to be reported. But the appeals court upheld the conviction, saying the facts presented at his trial conclude he reasonably should have known his obligation of reporting to the sex offender registry.
