The Central baseball team put together back-to-back complete games in their doubleheader sweep of Buena Vista on Friday afternoon. The Dutch won 4 – 2 and 7 – 0, thanks to locked-in pitching and timely hitting. Dylan Diveney threw a complete game in the opener, allowing two unearned runs on five hits, and Kirby Coppess hit Central’s first home run of the season, which turned out to be the game-winner, to give his team a 4 – 0 advantage at the time. Dakotah Wolken shutdown the Beavers in the nightcap, scattering seven hits in nine innings to go along with seven strikeouts and just two walks. Central’s bats cranked out 14 hits, including three doubles. Zach Zylstra went 6-for-8 in the doubleheader, as Central improves to 10 – 13 overall and both schools are 6 – 6 in the Iowa Conference. The conclusion of their four-game series happens today starting at 1:00 p.m.
