Hundreds of Central College students, staff, and faculty assisted the community with projects for their annual service day.
Senior Dillon Anderson was among a group of his fellow fishing class members that helped 7th graders from Pella Middle School with their rods and reels. He says it felt good to interact with the kids one-on-one and to show them some of the basic skills he learned from his family as a kid.
“Some kids may not be as popular as others in school, and out here they’re equals. They catch a fish and everyone’s excited for them,” Anderson says.
Grayson Parisee is a 7th grader who made the trip to Dutch Meadows pond. He says it was nice to have the Central guys around to help out.
“It’s been nice to have people to talk with and give you some advice,” Parisee says.
Central students also volunteered at The Well Resource Center, Vriendschap Village, Sprigs n’ Sprouts, and WesleyLife, among other locations.
