Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch made a proclamation that the city will join the rest of the nation in honoring National Police Week.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says this week recognizes the efforts of police officers. He says over 20,000 officers have been killed in the line of duty since the first known death in 1791.
Losada hopes that citizens will take the opportunity to say thank you to law enforcement officials for the work they do.
