Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky says that President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
He says there is often negativity surrounding the police that can cause a lot of their good work to be overlooked. Bokinsky encourages the public to foster a relationship with their local officers, so they can help each other grow for the common good.
