Central College’s Abbey Strajack and Karlee Rock have both been chosen as first team All-Americans by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The two Dutch seniors were recognized last night in Salem, Virginia at the banquet kicking off this week’s NCAA Division III National Finals tournament. Strajack, Central’s leadoff hitter and second basemen, set the school’s single season record for hits, with 76, and runs, with 52. She also set the career record in both categories, and shattered the school’s career batting average record, hitting .410. She was also honored as an All-American in her freshman season as a third-team selection. Rock, Central’s designated player, re-wrote the power section of the Dutch record books. She slugged 15 home runs, drove in 59, and had a slugging percentage of .857, setting new single season standards in all three categories. She also now owns the career slugging percentage record at .603. The two newly minted All-Americans both graduated from Central on Saturday. Strajack will teach kindergarten in Des Moines starting next fall, while Rock is off to graduate school at Marshall University in West Virginia.
