A goal in the 48th minute of play by Chase Larson was all the Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad needed to defeat Newton last night in the class 2A Sub State Semi-Final 1-0. Both teams had multiple chances to score in the first half, but the ball only came tantalizingly close to finding the back of the net. The Panthers finally scored on a throw in from Nolan Crossett, who threw it right to Larson for the header. Coach Dylan Mick told KNIA/KRLS Sports Crossett’s and Larson’s efforts fueled what was a tremendous all-around effort. Keeper Nick Moats had eight saves to preserve the shutout. The Panthers are now 12-4 on the season and will travel to Norwalk to play the Warriors, who shelled Winterset 9-0 last night in the Sub State final on Saturday.
