A triplet of Central student-athletes were recognized for their accomplishments on and off the field during the 2014-15 school year yesterday. Softball catcher, Katie Canney, received the Marjorie Giles Student Life Leadership Award. The honor is given annually to a junior or a senior that has demonstrated positive values through faith-based leadership in co-curricular activities. Women’s track and field athlete, Kaitlyn Gillett, earned the Prins Sportsmanship Award, for demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship in dealing with fellow students on campus. Linebacker for the Dutch football team, Jordan Wachter, received the Ron Schipper Leadership Award. The designation is presented annually to a senior who reflects the character, commitment, and enthusiasm for Central as Schipper did during his 36 years of service as head football coach and 30 years as athletics director.
